Subject: Reychman's "Szkice Genealogiczne"

I have just come into possession of a copy of the 1985
reprint of Kazimierz Reychman's "Szkice Genealogiczne"
["Genealogical Sketches"] that was first published in
Warsaw, in 1936.
My Polish is nonexistent, but the book seems to consist of
short (2-4 page) sections, listing names and dates (back
to as early as, in some cases, the mid-18th century) for
each of a few dozen Warsaw families. Yale Reisner - at
the Lauder Foundation in Warsaw - tells me that while
Reychamn's data "is not totally flawless, in general, it
is highly reliable, as we have had contact with many of
the families included and they have confirmed many
details." For anyone interested, I would be pleased to
scan and email the relevant pages.

MERZBACH

This family probably moved from Germany to Poznan from where in the
beginning of the X1X century they moved to Warsaw.

HENRYK (born ……  died ……) a shopkeeper from Poznan married Caroline (born 1774, died 5.11.1849)

and they had three children,

I.   Samuel Henryk (born …   died 22.7.1874) was a known publisher in Warsaw from 1830 near to Ulica Miodowa (road of honey), who married Justine Giowartowska (born 1.1.1812, died 2.8. 1887);

II.   Zygmunt (born 1801, died 3.11.1852) a known book shop owner,  (established in 1830), who on 16. 8. 1834 married Helena Lesser (born 1.1.1812 died 5.3.1894)

They had

A.   KLARA.

(born 4.10.1835  died 11.2.1912); who on  27.5.1855 married Henryka Pollack { born 1821, died..);

B.   HENRYK.

(born 29.12.1836, died  20.4.1903); He was a known poet and journalist. He took part in the uprising in 1863 and then emigrated to Brussels.;  He married on 27.8.1870 Paulinę Henrykę Elizę Gliislaine Le Hardy de Beaulieu (born 28.1.1851); and with her he had 4 children

1.    HELENA  ELŻBIETA  PAULINA  GHISLAINE.   (born 28.7.1871); married on 28.7.1896  Ferdynand Leveque, a lawyer from Brussels (divorced in 1928);

2.    JERZY   ZYGMUNT   KAROL   STANISŁAW,   (born 25.9.1874,  died 17.2.1928); , a lawyer in Alexandria, holder of various medals - Leopold, Belgian Crown. Legion of Honour, Commander of the Order of Medjidjie and Nile and the Star of
Ethiopia, officer of public education?.

He married

Maria Paleologue apparently in 1916 and she appears to have died in the same year and he then in 1922 married

Celine Piha (born 9.7.1985) .

3.    KAROL ZYGMUNT HENRYK, (born 18.12.1875  died...... );

he was a higher ranking officer in the
Belgian  army with various medals /order of leoposl with palms, Order of the
Nile and also Ethiopian star and the Spanish order of military merit. he was
also author of many texts on Polish emigration in Belgium.

On 17.12.1912 He married Janinę Stefanję Ludwikę Annemans (born  6.2.1883);

They had 4 children:
